Authentic Italian Pizza By True-Blue Neapolitan Chef

When anyone thinks about Italian food, there's little doubt that the golden couple of pizza and pasta jumps into mind immediately. And now you can taste the fresh authentic creations of Chef Antonio Manetto in his beloved first solo venture, Bella Pizza.

A cosy little restaurant snuggled in a quiet corner of Robertson Quay, Bella Pizza's location is convenient for those who want to pop down to the clubs for a night of drinking and dancing but still retains sufficient privacy for those who're after a quiet evening wining and dining.

Bella Pizza's riverside view of smooth waters banked by gentle greenery and flowing under one of Singapore's most historic bridges is also sure to charm the eyes and help improve the appetite.

The meaning of the restaurant's name is beautiful pizza, and it's also our aim: Chef Antonio aims to create the best and most authentically Italian pizza in Singapore, using the freshest ingredients and all the skills, experience and passion he can bear onto the task.

Not only are there red pizzas, which have a tomato sauce base and the style which is most well-known, there are also white pizzas with a purely cheese base, calzones or folded pizzas which look a bit like curry puffs – and barcas.

Although our pizzas are mainly Neapolitan style as befits Chef Antonio's origins, the barcas are a traditional Sicilian type – an homage, perhaps, to Chef Antonio's father who is a hot-blooded Sicilian. Barca means boat, which describes their shape: a perfect cradle of savoury pizza sauce and melted cheese, mingling in the heart. Bella Pizza is, in fact, the first restaurant to introduce the barca to Singapore.

Pizzas are the stars, but the rest of the carefully created menu is also worth a tasting or two. Or three! The starters and pastas are proven tongue-pleasers: in particular, our Portobello Ripieno and the robust yet delicately nuanced Linguine ai Frutti di Mare have won countless fans.

The restaurant has a clean, uncluttered, faintly masculine look that is given warmth by the natural elements incorporated within the design as well as the restful colours and soft lighting in use. Creamy sand-coloured walls, deep-toned wood counters and furnishings and natural grey stone all combine to bring the outdoors inside without the hassle of dealing with stinging insects or the temperamental weather.

One of the most eye-catching features is what is laughingly referred to as the “wall of wine“ where full and empty wine bottles seem to hang suspended in neat rows on an enormous wood panel covering the entire wall. Actually, the creation of this illusion lies in the discreet metal holders that support each bottle. Spotlights of different colours add a magical touch.

Visitors will also immediately spot the open kitchen situated along the entire backend of the restaurant. Just a stone-and-wood counter separates guests from the kitchen and the preparation of their food; there are no windows or clear glass barriers blocking them off from the chef. Chef Antonio hopes that this will bring the guests' more understanding of food preparation and give them a new dimension in their enjoyment of the dish. He certainly welcomes guests to stand at the counter area and watch him and his assistants prepare the food. If you're lucky, the chef might even be free for little chitchat!
